HELB enhances equity in higher education by awarding loans and bursaries to needy Kenyan students. The Board applies a ‘Means Testing’ instrument in order to identify deserving students. For the Board to achieve these objectives, it needs the co-operation of all the stakeholders. It requires the support of:
Government:- in the provision of adequate funding to meet the demand for loans.
Students:- in the provision of truthful information when applying for loans, so that only needy students get loans.
parents:- in ensuring that their children provide truthful information. Those parents who can afford to pay for their children should discourage them from applying for HELB loan.
higher education Institutions:- in providing the necessary information to facilitate efficient processing of students’ loans.
donors, individuals, charitable and financial institutions to meet the objectives of the Board.
